How to Manage Files and FTP through Web-Interface

Submitted by on October 2, 2009 – 5:12 amNo Comment

Sometimes you may need to manage files and/or FTP through web-interface (without direct access to the files on server or without FTP connection). Joomla provides you with additional extensions for this – eXtplorer and joomlaXplorer.

eXtplorer and joomlaXplorer are File- and FTP management components. They allows you to

  • Browse Directories & Files;
  • Edit, Copy, Move and Delete files/directories;
  • Search, Upload and Download files,
  • Create new files, directories and symbolic links;
  • Change file permissions;
  • Extract Archives

and much more directly on your server. eXtplorer has a completely renewed interface based on the ExtJS library.

Compatibility:

eXtplorer

Joomla (all versions) + standalone

joomlaXplorer

Mambo AND Joomla (all versions)

To use these components you should download them and install using the administration panel of your site. Learn how to install components

Note: by default, super administrators only have access to this component. You can enable access to it granting a user super administrator’s rights (Learn how to set user permissions).

To open JoomlaXplorer, go to Components -> joomlaXplorer. The component has a intuitive user interface so you should not meet any difficulties with them.
